PENSACOLA, FL - July 27, 2020 - According to an online news report on PNJ.com, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office arrested a man from Pensacola, Florida, for allegedly raping a woman, threatening her life, kidnapping, and several other crimes. The suspect was arrested for committing the alleged crime that occurred back on May 4, 2020. According to the news report, the man told the victim that the next time that her kids saw her, the woman would be in a body bag. The suspect stated this after attacking her, repeatedly raping her, and threatening to kill her. The 31-year-old man faces numerous charges of kidnapping-false imprisonment, sexual battery, resisting arrest, aggravated battery, drug possession, and larceny (theft).

According to the report, on May 4, 2020, a female contacted the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and told the deputies that the suspect had raped her the night before. The victim stated that she was with the suspect, and they were riding in a car. The victim said that she and the suspect began to argue. The suspect drove the vehicle into a Publix parking lot located off of Mobile Highway, and the suspect pulled out a sharp, triangular metal weapon. The victim told Sheriff's deputies that the suspect then told her that he was going to rape her, according to the suspect's arrest report, detained in the news report. The victim stated that she wanted to return to her home, but the suspect told the victim that she needed to "call her children and let them know that next time they would see her was in a body bag," according to the news story.

The victim explained to the Sheriff's deputies that the suspect held her against her will and resumed driving throughout the Pensacola. The suspect repeatedly raped the victim during that night, according to the news article. The victim stated that she woke up in the backseat of the car that the suspect was driving the following morning, and the suspect was gone. Her valuables were also missing.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. The Sheriff's Office was given a tip where the suspect might be located. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the location and found who they believed to be the suspect based on the suspect's identifiable information. As an Escambia County Sheriff's deputy moved back toward the deputy's cruiser, the deputy witnessed the suspect begin to slowly back away from the deputy. As the deputy commanded the suspect to stop, the suspect ran away toward another's backyard, and the suspect jumped over a fence to evade arrest, according to the news article. Moments later, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputies found the suspect attempting to hide from the deputies inside a pickup truck bed. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputies found illegal Ecstasy tablets inside the suspect's backpack.

The 31-year-old Pensacola man was processed and booked into the Escambia County Jail. The suspect was not allowed to post bond and remains in custody, according to the news report's review of Escambia County records.
